Match reports from weekend 25th March
Hi all
The double team boys had an away match at Wortley Juniors Blues. They drew the first match 1-1, see below for match report from the second match:
Result - 0-5
In warm conditions, the boys started off well, with a missed chances at both ends. Through a mixture of heat and injuries, the subs were well used. Howver, we tired towards the end of the first half, conceding a couple of goals.
The boys continued to battle bravely in the second half with some good goalkeeping and hard work in midfield, however Tingley scored another 3 goals towards the end of the match.
Despite the scoreline, our defending is improving, with the focus for training on Thursday night to be on improving our passing and shooting.
The friendly team boys had a credible 0-0 draw, with a memorable save from Jack Dawson keeping Tingley out, whilst a great save from their keeper kept Harry from scoring what would have been the winning goal!
The double team boys had an away match at Wortley Juniors Blues. They drew the first match 1-1, see below for match report from the second match:
Result: 0 – 5
We travelled to sunny Wortley to take on the team that had beaten us 2 – 0 earlier in the season. After a strong start from both teams, neither team was able to break the deadlock. Half time and 0 – 0, we discussed some areas that we could improve and set to work to get a win and another 3 points. A very strong second half saw some great build up play and 5 goals, solid defending and some brave goalkeeping allowed the boys to keep a well-deserved clean sheet. The MOM award was the hardest decision that we have had to make in recent weeks, due to the fact that all the team had played well.

The single team boys had a home match vs Tingley Tigers, who are riding high near the top of the league.Result - 0-5

Match reports from the weekend
Hi all
a busy weekend, with the single team boys having 2 matches vs Hunslet & Tingley Athletic, with the double-team boys away at Rothwell Juniors.
The single team boys had a difficult match against a Hunslet team with some additional players from the home match a few weeks back. Despite going ahead via a corner from Connor, some fantastic finishes saw Hunslet go 3-1 ahead before another goal from a corner from Cameron leaving the score 2-3 at half time. Unfortunately, a school trip to scarborough the previous week saw some of the boys run out of steam in the second half, mixed with a couple of great goals from Hunslet. Finale score 6-2 to Hunslet. The friendly team drew 2-2 with Hunslet, with Luca impressing in midfield and scoring a great goal.
MOM - Luca
On sunday, they were away to Tingley Athletic. We focussed on improving the defending for this match and it paid off. Despite going 1-2 down early on, the boys fought well, defending far better than the previous match and deservedly won 2-1 with 2 goals from Harry, the second goal a fantastic individual effort. The friendly team also won 3-1.

the double-team boys lost the first match 4-0. See below for report from 2nd match:
Rothwell Juniors vs. Rothwell Town
Result: 2 - 2
Derby day! With lots of the boys missing training last week, we didn’t have time to work on some problem areas from the week before. But this didn’t matter, as they were all up for the match. A very strong start and we created some good chances but no goals. 0 – 0 at half time. Some changes were made and off they went again in search of goals. Finlay collected the ball, checked the wind speed and then let fly with a mighty kick, one bounce, the keeper fumbled and one nil, great celebration as Finlay almost completes a lap of honour. Then they equalise with a spectacular effort right into the top corner. With 7 minutes remaining it was end to end stuff, on comes Spencer he was put through with some great passes, bang! 2 – 1. With only minutes remaining a mix up at the back let them in to level and the match ended at 2 – 2. What a game and once again great team performance with everybody putting in 100%. See you on Thursday.
MOM - Finlay

Report from weekend 11th March
Hi all
the 2-team boys had a difficult away match vs Colton on Sunday. The first match ended in a 3-1 defeat, see below for a match report from the second match:
Result: 1 – 0
In glorious conditions, we took on Colton Juniors. With a couple of new faces in our squad the team adapted well and dominated for the first ten minutes, but couldn’t manage to get a goal. In a very tight game Colton came back at us and some good defending helped to keep the score to 0 – 0 at half time. With some changes made we set out to break down their defence, all the boys put in a good shift, but we tired near the end and got caught on the break, after a couple of good blocks the ball was eventually scrambled over the line. 1 nil with only a couple of minutes to go. We pushed for the equaliser but it wasn’t to be. Well done to you all and we will be working on a few things in training this week to get us ready for our next fixture.
MOM - Ethan
Next weekend (17th/18th) is going to be a busy one, with the 2-team boys away at Rothwell Juniors and the single team boys away at Hunslet on Saturday and Tingley Athletic on Sunday. More info re locations to be provided later this week.
cheers
