Just to confirm, their are no matches for both teams until 15th January when the single team league play away to Tadcaster. The two-team league play their first match of 2012 on the 22nd January away to Churwell.

Watch out for George's texts re training and have a great xmas and happy new year!

Weekend's Matches

Hi all

The single league/friendly match will be away to Farsley Celtic on Sunday. Note, the Garforth League website has us playing at home but as our pitch at Woodlesford is unplayable, we have agreed with the Farsley coach to play away instead.

Please all arrive for 10.00am, Throstle Nest, Newlands, Farsley, Leeds LS28 5BE. If the weather is cold (as forecast), please make sure your child is well wrapped up, including training jacket, gloves, etc.

We will confirm re the 2-team league match asap, as it may be called off.

Weekend results & xmas party news!

Hi all

A frustrating weekend again for the teams. The single team boys lost 1-0 to a a penalty vs Middleton Park and despite dominating for most of the match, couldn't make the breakthrough.

The two-team boys drew their first match 1-1 vs Colton Juniors whilst losing the second match 1-0, both matches closely contested.

Our plan for a xmas party is to go bowling at Xscape on the 12th December, 5pm. If your child can make it, please bring 5£ to training on Thursday night. note, food will be provided as part of the visit, if your child has any dietary requirements, please let me know on 07954 309434.

Finally, can you check your child's training jacket and make sure they have the correct name? A number have been getting lost over the past couple of weeks. Also ,if you dont have your child's name written on the label, then please add it.

Results from the weekend's matches

Hi all

Mixed results again at the weekend - the two-team boys lost 4-1 in their first match and won 1-0 in the second match against the league leaders Stanningley Albion.

The single-team boys dominated their match with Aberford but were unable to to take their chances and lost 1-0 to a goal on half time. A great effort from the team, especially considering a couple of them were struggling with illness.

Not a good weekend for the teams, the 2-team boys lost 5-1 and 3-1 respectively in the cup to Colton whilst the single team boys lost 4-0 to a strong Tingley Tigers team.

Result from weekend

Hi all

The single team had a tough match away at Shadwell United, missing 6 players. We started well, matching Shadwell in most departments until they revealed their secret weapon - their sub was almost my height and changed the game. Those parents who were there will agree, if their number 7 was under 9, then so am I! We were 2-0 down at half time from an unlucky deflection and wonder strike from their "under 9" sub.

Second half, we battled hard, but tired towards the end and lost 5-0.  Positives were strong performances from the midfield trio of cameron, alfie and will with a captains performance from Ciaran.

We move on to the next match 6th November, check this site for details of the opponents.

Note, training is on thursday as usual.

Results from Weekend 16th October

Hi all


Mixed results again for our teams. The first and second teams match was a local derby against Rothwell Juniors, both matches finishing 1-1. The scorer in the first game was an own goal with Joseph Gill scoring from the spot in the second game.


The single team's match was away to Kippax Athletic, who had won all 3 previous matches. Despite a far better performance from boys, we lost 2-0 which could have been much better had we taken a few of our numerous chances. A great effort all round, much improved from the previous week.


Finally, another strong performance from the friendly team against Kippax, who were the better team on the day and were unlucky to lose out to a last minute breakaway goal.

Strong performances at the back from Jack Dawson, Charlotte, Amir and Calum providing excellent support for Thomas, Josh and Jack Johnston up front. Both goals came from Man of the Match Connor Finister who ran them ragged through midfield.

Well done to all for a fantastic effort.

Result from the weekend

Hi all

The single team faced Yorkshire Amateurs, top of the league and probably the best team we will play this season. Despite a promising start, we lost 8-0 with most of the goals in the second half. Note - let's get the opposition to kick up the hill in the second half in future.

Despite the result,  the midfield worked really hard and showed some good passing and movement and with a bit of luck, we could have scored a couple of goals.

See you all on Thursday night for training. Hopefully, the weather will be an improvement on last week, if not please remember to wrap the kids up warm!

Results for 2nd October

Hi all

A good day for the under 9's. The first team drew 2-2 with Hunslet club, Bradley Graham and Tom Ibbeson scoring the goals. Man of the match was Ben Pears for his fantastic effort, running himself ragged!

The second team won a thrilling match vs Hunslet Club 5-4 with Josh Gilliard grabbing 4 goals and Ben Neale the other. Man of the match goes to Ben for his all round contribution and assists for the goals.

The third team gave Rothwell Juniors a footballing lesson with a well deserved 2-0 victory which could have been more if not for a fantastic display from Juniors' keeper. Scorers were Connor Finister and Joseph Hepper. Man of the match goes to Connor for a great midfield showing. A pic of the lads ready for action is below.

Remember, we are looking alternative names for all the teams, one idea from Cameron was to use the 4 symbols on the Rothwell town badge. Any other ideas, let me know, andy.murphy@lexisnexis.co.uk.

Amendments to the fixtures

The upcoming fixtures have been slightly changed. The first & second teams are away to Hunslet on Sunday whilst the 3rd team are at home to Rothwell Juniors.

On the 9th Oct, the first and second teams do not have a league match (may be a cup match, to be confirmed), the 3rd team are at home to Yorkshire Amateurs.

On the 16th Oct, the first and second teams are at home to Rothwell Juniors, the 3rd team travel to Kippax Athletic.

Results from 1st league weekend (25th Sept)

Hi all

Both the 1st and 2nd team's had a winning start to their league season vs Glen Juniors. the 1st team won 3-2 and the 2nd team won 1-0 with a winner from Byron Ward who was also man of the match.

The 3rd team started with a tough friendly away to North East Leeds and despite a shaky start, conceding 4 goals by half time, they stuck together and ended up with a 6-1 loss, Harry Worker scoring with a fine effort. Man of the match was a tie between Ciaran Cartwright and rookie keeper Jack Dawson. This result does not count towards the league as North East Leeds have decided to enter the 2-team league.
